I've been reading a book regarding a quick and practical guide to the internet. I learned something which I want to share especially to those who are neophytes in the world of internet like me.
It's about intranet and internet. When I was still working in an office, I've been communicating with my officemates via computer. So our boss will not caught us chatting. :)
According to the book there is a difference between a office and a global set-up when it comes to computer communication. INTRANET refers to a small, in-house networks running on Internet principles and technologies. It is a private network using Internet protocols so that employees can use ordinary Web browsers. INTERNET, on the other hand, is a wide network of computers. Its scope is throughout the world. It is used to search & display information, promote products & services, and even in online banking and shopping.
