Battuta was born in Tangier and left for his long journey at twenty-one years old. He set off for the pilgrimage to Mecca. He crossed the continent Africa and reached Cairo the capital of Egypt.
Battuta travel’s included crossing through the Mamluk
Battuta left from Cairo down to ‘Aydhab to go sightseeing, then came back up to Damascus then down to Mecca where he made his pilgrimage. Instead of going home he thought of adventure and headed to Persia for an even longer tourist travel.
